Many of us have problems with digestion, but we don’t talk about it. Health starts in the gut for so many reasons so digestion is key. Improving digestion is important not only to extract and absorb the healthy foods that you eat, but to improve your immune system. We’re about to reveal the key to improving your digestion.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as timing and chewing your food. One of the major culprits of poor digestion includes low hydrochloric acid in your stomach and low enzymes that are released from your pancreas and your liver. If you can do this one thing before every meal, you can improve your digestion dramatically. Get rid of the embarrassing gas and bloating, pain, constipation, diarrhea, and improve your immune system.

There are a number of reasons why the standard American diet causes poor digestion. Sometimes it’s an underlying condition, like diabetes or obesity, which will need to be addressed. But oftentimes, you can do something as simple as taking a digestive enzyme before each meal to help break down the food. You can eat the healthiest diet in the world, but if you’re not breaking down those nutrients and your body is not able to absorb them appropriately, then a healthy diet is not as helpful as you think.

Digestive enzymes include things like amylase, protease, lipase, phytase, cellulase, invertase, and maltase, which help to break down nutrients into the smallest pieces so that your intestines can absorb them.

Sick of insomnia? Tired of counting sheep? Stick around till the end, we’re going to reveal a surprising and extremely effective master tip to help you sleep.

Sleep Hygiene

Make it dark, make it quiet, make it comfortable, make sure the temperature is around 67-70 degrees, don’t engage in technology in bed, use a bed for sleep and sex only. Research shows that our brain processes approximately 70,000 thoughts each and every day. Get those last thoughts out.

Before you go to bed, take a little journal and write down those thoughts so that monkey chatter doesn’t keep going.

Some people advocate for stretching or progressive muscle relaxation. Some people have used a combination of apple cider vinegar and honey. Melatonin is certainly an awesome sleep aid, and it’s also the body’s most powerful antioxidant, helping with pain, anti-aging, cardiovascular disease, for vision, for hearing.

But if these sleep hygiene methods don’t help you get some shut eye, keep reading.

The master tip for better sleep…

The reason cold is so effective for sleep is that it brings some of the blood away from the brain, down into the body, feet, legs, chest, lungs, arms and hands. It also helps to drain the brain of those 70,000 noisy thoughts.

There are a few ways to achieve this:

  1. Take a cold shower – One of the fastest ways to get cold, but not as effective as the other two methods.
  2. Cold immersion bath – Run a slightly-less-than-lukewarm bath, stay in the bath, and as your body is getting used to it, turn the cold faucet on again to add fresh cold water to the tub. It doesn’t sound pleasant, but lowering your body temperature this way will ensure you sleep like a baby.
  3. Wet sheet wrap – The most effective method for falling asleep. Take a sheet, get it wet, wring it out, wrap yourself up in it like a mummy, and then put a couple of blankets on top of that so you’re not chilled. Your body takes an enormous amount of energy to warm and dry that sheet.

Tip: If you use the wet sheet wrap, make sure your feet stay warm, so maybe put on a pair of socks or even two pairs of socks. It’s just the legs, the trunk, and the arm that need to be wrapped up in the wet sheet.

So, whilst we may all know about sleep hygiene, cold is the real key to helping you get a good night’s sleep.

5 Foods You Should NEVER Eat (They Make You Look Older!)

We all know that the foods we eat affect us on the inside, as well as the outside. But did you know that there are certain foods that will make you feel and look older? There are five foods groups that have various mechanisms that actually change how you age. We’ll be giving you a little insight to each of them here.

5 Foods You Should NEVER Eat

1. Refined grains

different type of breads made with refined grain in a basketRefined grains include anything made from white flour: baked goods, pastries, breads etc. These refined grains can spike insulin levels, which is a pro-inflammatory hormone that can cause devastation to both how you look and what’s going on inside of your body. So, avoid refined grains as much as possible.

 

 

2. Fried or charred foods

plate of french fries with ketchup and mayonnaise on the sideFried or charred foods are responsible for something called AGE, or advanced glycosylated end products, which are responsible for binding up tissues and cells that make things internally stiffer and causes aging. Avoid anything fried or charred at any cost.

 

 

3. Sodas and juices

three different bottles of soda packed in iceSodas and juices are basically just sugar that spikes insulin levels, changes growth hormone levels and cortisol levels, and hormonally make you age at a much more rapid pace. Sodas and juices should be avoided wherever possible. They can be easily replaced with water or natural teas.

 

 

4. Anything in a box or bag

Imagine yourself walking through a market or a grocery store, going through the middle aisles, and seeing all of those boxes and bags. They’re full of ingredients that if you read them, you cannot (oftentimes) pronounce them. Those ingredients are associated with aging. They’re also typically very high in trans fats and partially hydrogenated oils. Trans fats and partially hydrogenated oils are preservatives to keep these foods on the shelves, but they age you. The body cannot process them in way that is healthful, so you should try to shop on the periphery of the grocery stores. Get fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meats, cheeses, and avoid things in boxes and bags.

5. Seafood

Wild Alaskan salmon is wonderfully effective to slow down the aging process, but if you choose certain seafoods that are laden and loaded with high mercury, cadmium, and arsenic levels, then you change the metabolism of your cells and mitochondria which affects how you age. Watch out for seafood that is high in mercury and other heavy metals, and be especially cautious about shrimp and salmon. Avoid bigger fish like swordfish, shark, and king mackerel. Because these fish are in the higher echelon of the ocean food chain, this means that they ingest all the heavy metals that the smaller fish (aka their prey) eat.

These are the five food groups that you should avoid, or consume with caution. These are the food groups that will affect how you age, and make you look and feel older.
